Yes, 10 billion humans.
However, innovations in genetics, energy generation, and transportation have led to technological progress that has expanded the carrying capacity of our planet.
But we still have to deal with carbon. The increases in production and population over the past two centuries have generated carbon emissions that threaten life on Earth.
Worldwide, the typical human produces about four tons of carbon dioxide over a lifetime. The range varies wildly: in the United States the average person creates more than 40 times as much carbon dioxide as the average person in Bangladesh.
