Mind-blowing resources on Branding!

From over 6 years of my experience — Being a Creative Director and Brand Designer, over the course of my career, I’ve found it difficult to do my best work without of good understanding of the essence of a brand. I mean, isn’t it my job to create impressions? How can I create the best impressions without an…

The Gamble Guide

Making Wise Choices — The thing about gambling is that, to play, we have to be willing to lose. That’s what we put on the table — the willingness. Not what we have, but what we are willing to stake. That’s the play. It’s a trial, a guess… We want something back (tangible or…

Empathy is Not Pity

Here’s the difference — Empathy is stepping into someone's world, understanding, sharing, and connecting with them. Empathy is experiencing their emotions, perspective, and struggles without judgment even though you’re not in agreement. Empathy is human, it’s connecting. Pity on the other hand tends to come from a position of superiority or condescension. It’s feeling sadness from witnessing another person’s suffering or misfortune. You may feel sorry for them, but not necessarily understand or connect with their emotions. It might even come from a sense of distance or detachment from the person’s experience and may not lead to a desire to actively help or support them.

People Don’t Like Negative Feedback

So if you must give it, do this. — Do you notice the look on someone’s face when you’re giving them negative feedback? Even when they ask for it, most people don’t like (negative) feedback. It’s not entirely their fault. It’s primal. Being humans, we want to be seen, heard, and matter We’d rather be told what’s working than what’s…

Clients and Tasks You Should Not Undertake

And your life will be easier — Sometimes the key to a better (work) life is saying ‘no’ and negotiating better. Here’s what and who to say no to: Those that don't value your work, and would gladly let you know that they don't. Why then do they choose to work with you? Isn't it worth the…

He Said, “I’m Struggling With Bandwidth”

And here’s what I said to him — Yes. Yes you are struggling with bandwidth Because you don’t say ‘no’ often enough Because you think you are a magician and you can make it all happen, even when your experience tells you that you’re not. Because you want to feel like you are working hard Because you are taking on work without defining the scope and deliverables, so… everything goes! Because you are charging too little for your work.

The best ways

Usually, it goes like this — The best way to do marketing is no marketing. The best way to make friends is to become friendly. The best way to make a huge amount of money is to solve a huge problem The best way to stay fit is… Blah… blah… blah… They are hardly correct And there are only a handful of things that have “best ways” We can get stuck looking for the best way or fall for popular ‘best ways’ Or we can simply ask ourselves, what is the way forward? What’s next?

Driving the point home

In every (difficult) conversation — The reason it’s hard to drive the point home is that we want to drive the point home. The other reason is that the person on the other side would rather not get the point. And the reason is that it is not about them. It is about us. Every…

How to find the perfect fit

Anyone… anything — The search for a fit can be a thing. And now… perfect? The spouse, the job, the project, the friend. It’s easy to dismiss everyone and everything when ‘perfect’ is what we are looking for. It’s also easy to get into a loop of ‘no’s’. But it’s not helpful. …

Consistency Almost Always Beats a Head Start

Here’s what you need to know — Some writers, musicians, apps, blogs, and podcasts got a head start. Their debut was outstanding. It felt like a good launch and now all they have to do is build on it. Some of them survive and some don’t. Actually, many don’t. Then there are those that go at things…
