And that’s good news

The good news is you can learn anything, the bad news is it’s going to cost you something

Let’s start by replacing the word ‘bad’ with ‘great part’ because now we can see it in a whole new light

Let’s try again?

The good news is, you can learn anything, the great part is, it’ll cost you something — effort

It’s the great part because now you know that effort is a currency you can use to buy any skill no matter how “not my thing” or difficult it may seem.

What you may not realize is “I’m bad at something” is good news! And it’s good news because, following a decision to understand it, you can deploy a higher amount of effort to it and that over time makes you great at it.

Here’s the advantage of disadvantage. When you are at a disadvantage and you decide to deploy some effort to learning a skill or making something happen, overtime, you are more likely to do it better than those that don’t find it difficult because you will put in more effort than averagely required and that is something!

Hit this, Cindy Morris Sherman, one of the most important artists of the 20th century failed her first photography course. Geraldine S. Page, Academy award-winning American actress and winner of two Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes, a BAFTA Award, and four nominations for the Tony Award was advised to give up acting for lack of talent. Charles Darwin was considered an ordinary child!

Here’s the thing, with the right amount of effort, you can learn, know and be anything
