Open for Business

Then what?

There are many ways we say this. When we show up with a proposal, when we open an office, when we put up an ad., when we send an e-mail when we say ‘Hey! Come check us out’, what we are saying is, we are making a promise and if you take a chance on us, we won’t let you down. That’s a dangerous promise because now you have to be on the hook.

But when we scream ‘Hey! We are open for business’ and we don’t want to stay on the hook, we don’t want to be responsible for the promise, we make a bad impression and that leads to a bad reputation, long term.

When we don’t treat our clients’ right

When we don’t respond appropriately

When we don’t care about what happens after the sale

When we don’t speak nicely

When we don’t take the call or respond ASAP

What we are saying is, we don’t really care, we just pretend we do and that’s bad for business

Open might then become closed because a poor reputation makes you the least preferred option.

Not good.
