Peaches in Ibadan
On creativity and making meaning
You probably know the peaches in Georgia because Justin Bieber made music with them. What you might not know is, Georgia is one of four places with great peaches in the US. California, South Carolina and New Jersey all have peaches just as great, maybe better. Actually, China has the most peaches in the world, but, it doesn’t matter. Georgia wins!
Creativity has a lot to do with making something out of anything. Part of art is collecting meaningless stuff and making meaning out of them, all you need is an open mind, some confidence that you can make meaning, and some practice.
Many times, we dance to music with words that don’t exist in any language, they just kind of pick stuff and make it rhyme with a beat and yes, we boogie.
I’ve gotten logo ideas from junks and stuff I see on the street.
It’s the mind that creates, the other elements just play a part.
Practice creativity by keeping an open mind, anything is possible.
Peaches don’t actually grow in Nigeria and definitely not in Ibadan, but it doesn’t matter, does it?
