Preparing for the Grammys

And why it matters

In 1953, E.M Stuart, the volunteer president of the Hollywood chamber of commerce created an original idea that became the dream of every entertainer — The walk of fame. His idea was to “maintain the glory of a community whose name means glamour and excitement in the four corners of the world.”

His idea led to another one, the dream of every musician — The Gramophone awards, now Grammy awards

Last night, Beyonce got 4 awards out of 10 nominations, making her the female with the highest number of Grammys, and here’s what she had to say…

“I’ve been working my whole life since 9 years old. I can’t believe this happened, it’s such a magical night.

…and although she has won many Grammys in the past, it remains phenomenal each time. By the way, my favorite part of the night is the performances.

So, how do you prepare for the Grammys? Maybe you don’t. The Grammys prepare for you.

The Grammy Awards is run by The Recording Academy and after recording studios and The Recording Academy members have submitted their entries for consideration, a group of ‘experts’ check for eligibility and then, there is a vote.

Interesting fact — only members of The Recording Academy who have paid their yearly dues and have expertise in the considered genre are allowed to vote.

Here’s the point, it’s not all up to you.

Congratulations to the awardees and here’s another one — cheers

Cheers to everyone making great music and sounds worthy to be put on repeat.

Cheers to everyone that have worked for decades to serve a tiny audience that loves their genre

Cheers to great music and everyone contributing to it.

You have a choice, you can go all out for the Grammys and you might win or you can focus on making great music, something you are proud of and you might still win but there’s a difference.

Your choice is a gift to you. When you become responsible for it, it’s a gift you give… first to yourself, then, to everyone you seek to serve.

Oh! Cheers to Burna Boy, WizKid, and every Nigerian that came home with a Grammy.
