I should be faster, except that…

I should be doing this, except that…

That could be me, except that…

There’s a mix and it’s called “now”

When most people are asked, why they aren’t living their dreams or doing what they love or doing their best work or the thing they’ve always wanted to do, they say something — a reason… most times more than one

I need more money, I don’t have access to this and that, I’m in a situation, I’m not ready, I’m working on it, I have to do this first, I should have done it when I was younger, I have to figure out a way, someone told me that… and the list goes.

The thing about “now” is that as much of a mix as it may seem, it’s also a gift and a chance to be present with ourselves. And if there’s a wall before us, it is not there to stop us, it is there for us to climb or break, and if we send a crack through the wall every now and then instead of telling the story of “now” to ourselves as the reason we can’t get ahead, the wall will fall, soon enough.

Of course, you are dealing with stuff, crazy stuff sometimes and I see you. I’m not asking you to ignore the situation, I’m saying the wall is not stopping you.

A crack could be reading a page of a book that helps, connecting with people that help, contributing to things you care about, learning, trying again, therapy, a friendship, some distance, relocating, meditation, mentorship…anything! Doesn’t have to be big or make sense to everyone, matter of fact, you are better off with micro steps because you can find the grit to keep up.

“Now” can be a mix, it can be a wall, it can also be a gift and a chance to be present.

Cracks work but It’s up to us.

Slavery was a wall. And they fought as slaves until they became free.
