Proofreading and Full Stop

How do I make things better?

When we proofread a page of text, we have a choice to make. Fix errors (typos) and give it back or edit the text because we see better ways of communicating the same idea.

The first is easy, the second requires us to lead with care. The first takes a lot less time than the second because to edit, you have to understand the text.

When we fix tiny errors, add punctuations, blame our bosses, do as we were told, tweet at the government, change a child’s school, we fix tiny errors and that’s okay but making a measurable impact, making things better, and moving them forward may require us to pay more attention, and to lead… if we care enough. And it’s worth it.
