Stories

And why tell them

There are two kinds of stories, the ones we tell from our experience (or other people’s experience) — true stories and the ones that didn’t happen — untrue stories or fiction.

True stories have a degree of accuracy because there’s something to measure up to, untrue stories don’t.

True stories can’t be edited for another context or audience, untrue stories can.

True stories are limited in characters, untrue stories aren’t.

We can decide to have Aquaman and The Flash in an episode and kill them in the next, only to bring Superman back and tell some weird Cyborg past.

Here’s the thing about stories, they don’t always have to be true and if you so badly want something to happen to you, you can as well create it.

You can live your desire in another reality and invite us to be with you by writing a book or making a movie or whatever way you choose to tell the story.

You can use your imagination, it’s limitless, it’s legal and it’s free.
