The things you want to do

And you’re probably never getting to

It’s interesting that many people never get to the things they really want to do. They’ll rather be doing something else than what they are currently doing.

Acting, activism, music, writing, politics, sports, a new company, some weird type of engineering, and things that we don't even yet have names for. Their eyes light up when they talk about these things but most people don’t even get started.

Here are a few questions that might move the needle.

  1. Do you feel like certain things need to happen before you get started?
Maybe they don’t. Maybe you’re creating too many dependencies.
Imagine those dependencies never happen. How will you approach getting started?
  2. Did you pick a starting point that might be too far from the start? The idea of starting is simply trying to get something done without having it all together, YET.
How else might you start, now? Maybe your start is far from an actual start.
  3. Who are you talking to about it? Do they encourage you? Do they hold you accountable? Can they support you?

When you spend some time alone, thinking about these questions, you give your mind the permission to engineer a way out.

Maybe I’ll write an extended version.
In the meantime, if you need some help with this, you can text me.
