The urge to generalize
And what to do with it

If I go through your music playlists, I might be able to tell where you’re from or your temperament or at least a bit about you
Same with checking the apps on your phone, the causes you support, what you spend money on, etc.
Most things don’t start with everyone, even if they are good for everyone.
The idea that you should position your product, your marketing, your communication, your branding, your speech, your podcast, your song, or your creative work to speak to everyone so you can get more buy-in is a trap.
A trap that makes you undermine the people that it’s actually meant for.
Things grow by tribes and communities.
The more specific you tailor your product and communication, the higher your chances of finding people that fit. When they see it, they know, “it’s for us”.
When you find people that fit, then you find others like them. In fact, they will tell others like them.
First a spark, then it might spread.
